As Editor-in-Chief and and Art Director of Bella Vita, a single-issue magazine developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, I created an editorial project rooted in disruption, displacement, and creative response. After being sent home from my study abroad experience, the publication became a way to process that abrupt transition—using fashion, art, and design as tools to stay connected to place despite physical distance.
The issue is grounded in my time in Florence, drawing on its fashion culture and visual identity as both subject and reference point. I produced a series of hand-painted illustrations and led the full editorial arrangement of the magazine, shaping its pacing, themes, and visual narrative. Central to the project is my Editor-in-Chief letter, which frames the publication as both a personal reflection and a broader commentary on creativity during a global pause.
Bella Vita operates as a record of that moment—capturing how creative practice can respond to uncertainty while maintaining a sense of direction. It reflects an approach to editorial work that is both self-driven and place-conscious, using publication as a way to hold onto place, document experience, and continue creative work despite interruption.
